According to a study by Duke University, some monkeys can perform as well as college students when it comes to a certain math problems.
We have known for a while that simians and pre-verbal humans have an abstract concept of numbers, but the new research is the first to show that monkeys are able to do something with the numbers.
As the problems in the test became more difficult, monkeys and the humans experienced the same increase in error rate, further linking the two species' brains in terms of type of arithmetic ability.
